Intimate Forms

Collodion is a practice of mediation for me.
The slow nature of working in the darkroom has a calming quality. There is a quietness to working in the darkroom, the red light, hum of the ventilation, the world outside ceases to exist and the room begins to feel like a womb.  Watching the silver fade away and the image appear is  like seeing the world for the first time.  The view camera transforms people like rose petal glasses into these romantic emotional images.  When the image reveals itself in the darkroom my chest goes tight, and I feel something I can only equate with love. Skin becomes like the softest metal and my heart, molten, gets lost in the silver.
